What's the math in these games?
Providing children instruction focused on the shape’s defining attributes—such as number and length of sides—helps them create more accurate understandings. The shapes on the shape cards are intentionally set at various angles to give children experience with shapes whose bases are not horizontally aligned. Shape Card games are a fun way to practice numeral recognition, logic, strategy, and classification. Children may also develop important executive function skills such as rule shifting, working memory, and paying attention to multiple attributes (such as shape, number, and color).
There are 60 cards in the shape card deck. The cards have the numerals 1-10 on them along with one of six shapes: circle, triangle, square, rhombus, rectangle, or hexagon. There are also four Wild Shapes cards in the deck — these cards have all six shapes printed on them.
